Traversing Majayjay Falls of Laguna

If I'm not mistaken, the first and so far the only waterfalls that I've seen was the back-to-back falls of Daranak and Batlag of Tanay, Rizal back in 2009. And the last hike that I did was when I went to see Mr. Pinatubo last 2011. These two nature trips were unforgettable, not only because such efforts were exerted, but also I barely went out to see such natural beauty as these two. And this year, alongside the fun and knowledge that organic agriculture has shared to us, I had a chance to take the road of Majayjay, Laguna to see one of its precious sights - the Majayjay Falls.

This falls is called in three different names actually - there's the Majayjay Falls, taken from the name of the town where it belongs; the Taytay Falls, which is the actual name; and there's the name Imelda Falls, in honor of the former First Lady Imelda Marcos, who according to the people there financed the promotion of the tourism in this area.

So, okay, two hours from Manila, one can enjoy this stunning gift from nature flowing like a wonderful sheet of silk from the mystical mountains of Mt. Banahaw. But before you get to see this, though the roads to get here weren't really that treacherous, you have to walk some 10 minutes passing along the scenic and comforting cemented path of Mt. Banahaw. Not bad, eh?

Don't worry, its really safe to go here. Your family, especially kids, can enjoy walking along these paths for there are really a  lot of nice things and creatures to see. Just don't let your kids go near the railings, because there are parts that the clips are too high.

Walking on this paved pathways, I honestly couldn't believe that they did something like this on this place. Though I must admit that I'm a little thankful because it was really easy to walk around, but still there were just some constructions here that are really off to look at.

For one, do they really have to place something like this BESIDE the falls? I don't think so!

Then, there's also this... A riffraff blocking the way of the water to create a pool.

And this...

I just hope that they really thught about these things first before putting all of it there. I personally think that Majayjay Falls would have been more beautiful without those constructions. Raise your hands if you do agree with me! :-P

And for those who are visiting this place, come on, guys! There's already a sign like this there!

Unfortunately, when we got there, which was just like 9 in the morning, these wine and beer bottles greeted us along with the chirping birds and rapids of the water. :-( Saaaad.

I'm not sure if the ground keepers got these bottles here, but one this is for sure, there might be one or two that came here, and it was really sad to know that there are really a lot of "pasaways".

Well, after those not-so-nice things, it's about time to share to you some things why you should pay a visit to this serene place.

Since, the whole place was kinda renovated, tourists can enjoy  the place anywhere they wanna place themselves. You can even go down to the river down the falls, which will give you a nice feel and closer feel to the nature. And since we got there really early, it was like we own the whole place by ourselves! Wee!

We had a wonderful time taking group pictures with the majestic falls as our background. Then, since there's really no one there yet after an hour, well, some of us kinda dipped into the very cold - freezing cold water - of this beauty. The sun was already out that time, but the water was still freaking cold! No wonder a lot of locals really pay time to visit this sight during summer.

Really, the cold water was deadly, good thing I'm fond on these kind of coldness that I managed to enjoy the whole thing.  As you can see, there's a rope on the middle of the pool, which, ehem, I managed to cross despite of the strong current and chilly water.

As you may notice on the picture above, my skin has this red color now, those are caused by the cold water, I tell you. Haha! I actually didn't notice it til one of my blogger-friends told me so. Really funny incident.

We have a trip to catch going back to Manila, so as the clock ticked to 11 in the morning, we all bid goodbye to this enchanting place and promise to not leave anything.

I've been wanting to see this place for a long time, and thank God, that most of it made me love it even more! Nature is indeed something that gives me good vibes, so yeah, after this, I can't wait to see some other falls again!

Thank you, Majayjay Falls! Thank you, Majayjay, Laguna, for keeping the charm and green of this place! And thank you, Costales Nature Farms, for bringing us here!

Happy rammmpa!

  1. Wow! I've been to this Taytay Falls in Majayjay. Very exciting roadtrip because of zigzag roads as well with the lush vegetation and the canopy walk in Banahaw! Great job in traversing!
