Guimaras: Trappist Abbey

Run by monks of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance, whom we found really strict, with their actions, diction and facial expressions, ones' visit to this well-graced province, Guimaras, wouldn't be complete without paying a visit to Trappist Abbey.

If you are staying to Raymen Resort, Rico Beach Resort or even in Baras Resort, you don't have to worry, because you'll be passing by here, and it'll be hard to miss because since this is the best place to buy "pasalubong", so your driver  will surely point yo here. ^_^

Upon our arrival, we immediately sensed how solemn the whole place, a perfect epitome of the whole province of Guimaras. With nicely trimmed lawns and wonderful mango trees all over the place, one can enjoy the serenity and solemnity of the place.

But since, we really went here for some Guimaras' love goodies, we didn't waste time and head to its Gift Shop.

I am happy to know that DTI support this tiny shop with its One Town One Product program.

From yummy jams, jellies, all-natural juice drink and trinkets, you'll find it in here.

And if you wanna take home some mango love from Guimaras, Trappist Abbey is the place to be! From Mango Jam, Mango Juice, Mango Otap, Mango Biscocho, and Mango Bars, they have it all here!!!

And, yes, I bought one of those so that my family can also feel the mango love of Guimaras. ^_^

The money that this Gift Shop earns are being used by the monks for their everyday lives. And I believe, when I had a talk to the monk that's manning the cashier then, he said that all the ingredients in their Monastic food products are grown in Trappist grounds.

I, being not a fan of toasted bread, in fact loved their Mango Biscocho, so I guess, it was really that good.

So, if ever you plan to visit Iloilo Province, visit Guimaras and have a taste of real mango love of Guimaras through Trappist Abbey products!

Happy Rammmpa!
