We’re now three months away from the most wonderful time of the year. Technically, Dapitan Arcade is part of Quezon City, but since Dapitan is a famous landmark of Manila City, being one of the entrances of University of Sto Tomas is located here, people still refer to it as part of Manila City. But anyway, going here is so easy. If you know University of Sto. Tomas or Dangwa Flower Market in Manila, locating this colorful spot of Christmas decorations and gift ideas is definitely no fuss. Just make sure that you know how to bargain and spot the nicest piece, and you’re off to a great deal!
When I went there a few days ago, I was surprised that almost all stalls have their Christmas pieces up on display area. There were hundreds or even thousands of great and wonderful pieces that I really love to take home with me, but budget constraint, I was left with what I need the most and what I can carry back home.
Majority of the items that you’ll find here are home decors. From small Santa Clause that you can hang on your Christmas tree to life-size one that are perfect welcoming piece on your front door or lawn, you’ll all find them here at a very affordable price. Prices ranges from Php100 to more than a thousand, but if you are good at bargaining, you’ll get it at a good price.
There are also tons of Christmas balls and figurines that you can use at centerpieces on your dining table and some more Christmas accents that will delight you. Prices ranges from less than Php50 to roughly around Php500, depending on the design and style.
For some wooden pieces, right outside Dapitan Arcade are stalls of rattan-made baskets that compliments really on Christmas decorations. There are also some utensil stalls that sell wonderfully made spoon, fork and even vintage glasses and mason jars.
If you are up for some DIY projects this Yuletide season, Dapitan Arcade could definitely supply you with affordable pieces made perfectly well. I personally love those locally made parols – for me, nothing could beat our traditional parols – simple, yet very heartwarming!
