The First Ever Panglao International Dive Fiesta

In an island surrounded by beautiful beaches with pristine white sands, Panglao, Bohol is now ready to take a different kind of challenge that aims to make their municipality a must-visit place in the world. World, say hello to Panglao International Dive Fiesta.


Boasting with thousands of unique underwater species, which can be seen in 16 famous diving sites off the pristine and captivating Bohol’s crown jewel, Panglao hosts the first ever International Dive Fiesta that is set to showcase the province’s well-kept and protected gems beneath its clear, blue seas.


Started today June 12, this 4-day event, which consists of diving training and seminars, search and rescue capability exercise, exhibit, underwater photo contest and food market among other will last until this Sunday, June 15.

The highlight of this unique and first of its kind festivity is a showcase of Panglao's Diving Centers that takes pride of their remarkable, well-equipped and enjoyable fun and professional dives. This exhibit is at The Block, Alona Central Parking Area, Tawala, Panglao, Bohol.

On the official opening ceremony, which is attended by both local and international diving enthusiasts, Panglao Municipality Mayor Leonila P. Montero shared how they’ve been wanting to have this kind of fiesta here in Panglao to attract more tourists, and as this dream finally unfolds, together with Panglao Tourism Office, they excitedly welcomed everyone today to share the best of the province.

Panglao Tourism Officer Darwin Menorias told that this is just the beginning of something great for the Municipality of Panglao, its people and its guests, for they are dreaming of this fiesta to be big and an annual thing for the province.

Neighbor municipalities Danao, Loboc and Bohol’s lone city, Tagbilaran showed their support to this initiative of Panaglao to attract more tourists to the province by sending in their own pride. There’s the amazing student-chorale group of Tagbilaran’s Holy Name University who presented a captivating number, as well as Loboc’s and our whole country’s pride, the Loboc Children’s Choir who showcased their world class talent.

Tomorrow, June 13, University of San Carlos’ Filipina Sotto, Ph. D. will hold a symposium that will tackle on Coral Restoration and Animal Behavior; on June 14, seminars for search and rescue will be conducted by selected Panglao diving centers and by night the food market will be open to the public to be followed by the awarding ceremony of Panglao’s International Dive Fiesta Underwater Macro Photography Contest; lastly on June 15, guests are invited to a country side dive tour at Balicasag Island and then the whole event will be capped off by a live band and more raffle draws.
