Bacolod: The Pope John Paul II Tower

One of the stunning and noticeable structures that Bacolod has is this tower that symbolizes how solid Bacoleños are when it comes to religion, The Pope John Paul II Tower. This structure was built in dedication to the late pope who celebrated the holy Eucharist on this province last February 20, 1981.

This seven-story tower was inaugurated and was opened to the public since February 18th of last year. And even though it has no elevators, and each floor is merely just right for 10 to 15 persons, this site is one of the most visited tourist spots here in Bacolod City.

Before going in, an 8-foot statue of Pope John Paul II will welcome you. This statue carries the charming smile that Pope was known and love for - a wonderful welcoming spirit that I, myself, found so inviting.

While inside the tower, you'll see some of the memorabilia of the late Pope during his historic visit in this province on the year of 1981. Young and adults will surely enjoy looking at these stuff and will definitely get some useful facts about the goodness of this man.

Upon reaching the top floor, enjoy the breathtaking view of Bacolod City, including the whole lot of SM Bacolod and the splendid Gumaras Straight.

And though they do not collect any fees in getting in, the tower is only open from morning til 7 or 8 in the evening.

So, if ever you'll be visiting Bacolod City and wanna see some of its stunning offers, check out Pope John Paul II Tower and relive the spirit of one of the most influential man in the world.

Happy rammmpa!
