Ilocos Norte: The Not So Blue Lagoon

Before I came here, I read about a dozen of blogs saying about how pristine and beautiful the place is. Some tagged it as the Boracay of the North because of its pure white sand that are made perfectly by the nature itself. But when we got, honestly, I thought I was in a wrong place, until our guide told us that we were not in the right time to see Blue Lagoon on its finest and bluest moment.

One of the many popular summer destinations in the country, Pagudpud's Blue Lagoon, which houses most of the well-known resorts in the northern part was our last destination in this Ilocos Norte trip. Ideal for Holy Week retreat and relaxation, Blue Lagoon offers a captivating view of the top most part of the country.

A perfect spot for surfing too, Blue Lagoon is said to be one of the favorite destinations for those who are starting to try out the sport. Though, the pure white sand is captivating, the water wasn't as blue as its name says when we were there. Along the shoreline were some fishermen's shacks that speak of the kind of town it has.

When we were there, a dozen of men are busy pulling their nets back to the shore. We weren't just sure how long they have been there, but it seemed to me that it'll still take more than 2 hours for then to get all the nets back. I wanna believe that they've got a lot because from the way their nets look, there's something heavy in there. ^_^

There wasn't too many people when we got there, so basically, the whole beach was ours. But then again, since the water ain't that color blue, we only enjoyed bits of this place and just settled for the tranquility that it can offer that time. The blowing of the wind is noisier than the people around, so yeah, I managed to find enjoyment as to what we have then.

According to our friend-guide, the best time to visit this place is during summer, months like February, March and April are great. Though, the crowd won't be like as few as this moment that we are here, she assures us that the beach is picture-perfect. She also added that the beauty of Blue Lagoon has got something to do with the change of season, and so at that time when we were there, all the beauty are in Saud Beach, which is on the other side of the town.

And since we don't want our precious time be wasted on wishing for the water to turn blue, we just went to a nearby resort to try their very own Ilocano dishes, and thank God, it gave us that happiness that we enjoyed until late afternoon.

I guess, I don't have any other choice but to visit this place again. I just hope that it will happen next summer so that I can finally feel the nature's love brought by Blue Lagoon of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte!

Happy Rammmpa, everyone!
